Bristol 3, Bethlehem 2: Bristol managed to survive a late-inning rally by the Plowboys Wednesday evening in a 3-2 victory at Page Park. The Greeners struck for two runs in the third inning after a leadoff inside-the-park homerun by John Pastyrnak, followed by a run scoring double by Dave Casanova (2-3, 2 RBI, SB), who continues to be a spark atop Bristol’s lineup. Bristol tacked on another run in the fifth when Ryan Dudzinski doubled, and later scored on another Casanova basehit. Geoff Pierce went six strong innings for Bristol, giving up just five hits and striking out nine. After the first three batters reached based in the top of the seventh and Bethlehem had already put a run on the board, Bryan Wyrebek came in the game in relief of Pierce. Wyrebek recorded a force out on unsuccessful bunt attempt, a strike out, and, after giving up an RBI single to Bethlehem’s Dennis Paulter, he got a ground ball force out to end the game on a tough play by Pastrynak at shortstop to pick up the save. For Bethlehem, Jesse Darcy went the distance, allowing just three runs (2 earned) and striking out five. Nick Chivotti had three hits for the Plowboys.
