Torrington Rebels 13 Thomaston Threshers 3
Dan Livingston pitched 5 innings giving up 1 unearned run and Ian Pierce pitched 2 scoreless innings for the Rebels. Torrington scored 9 runs in the 1st inning. Rebels were led by Angelo Calabrese was 2-3, 2 walks, and 2 runs. Nate Katz 2-4, 2 RBI, Curtis Anthony 2-5, 3 RBI, 2 runs, and Bryan Failla 2-4, walk and a run scored. The Threshers were led by Will Sirotnik 2-4 and a run scored and Rob McHugh 1-3, BB and RBI.
Litchfield Cowboys 18 Watertown Blaze 5
Joey Serafine pitched 4 strong innings scattering 2 hits and striking out 6 batters. At the plate Litchfield jumped out early scoring 14 runs the first four innings. The Cowboys were led by Adam Claire (4-6), Ben Murphy (4-5), Mike Oldenwaelder, Chris Blazek and Karl Quist each added three hits. Eric Serfano went 2-4 with a home run and Conor McEvoy added two hits for Watertown.
Bethlehem Plowboys 3 Winsted Whalers 2
Despite being outhit 7-5, Bethlehem pulled out the win over Winsted in a pitchers dual on Sunday. Jason Krajesky went the first 7 innings striking out 8 batters. Jesse Darcy pitched the 8th inning and earned the victory with Mike Johnston picking up the save recording 3 strikeouts in the ninth inning. Tony Geraci led the offense with 3 hits and a run scored while Teddy Gravel pulled off an oddity reaching base 3 times via hit-by-pitch. Adam Piechowski pitched well in a losing effort recording 9 strikeouts for Winsted. Ricky Langer had 2 hits including a triple for the Whalers.
Bristol Greeners 6 Amenia Monarchs 3
The Greeners defeated the Monarchs 6-3 at Bristol Central on Sunday behind the combination of a strong pitching performance from starter Mat Niedzwiecki and a season-high 14 hits. Niedzwiecki allowed 1 run over seven innings, surrendering just three hits while striking out eight to improve his record to 3-1 on the season. Bristol was led offensively by Dave Casanova (4-4, 2B, 2 SB, BB), while John Pastyrnak, Matt Godbout, and Steve Julius each collected a pair of hits for the Greeners. Travis Hyatt took the loss for Amenia, allowing 6 runs (3 earned) over six innings. Ken Shufelt (2-4, 2B, RBI) led the way for the Monarchs, while Tom Downey, Tom Moore, and Josh Wolinski each added a double for Amenia.
Waterbury Wild 8 Tri-Town Trojans 2
Ken Kerski allowed one hit and one unearned one in eight innings of work with sixteen strikeouts. Nick Boucher had four hits while Jack Dibiase and Kerski had two hits apiece. Fraz Kader added a double and RBI. Connor Murray had the lone hit for Tri-Town with a triple. Steve Pryce knocked in a run.
Brass City Brew 6 Burlington Hunters 2
The Brass City Brew improved to 5-3 on the season with a win over the Burlington Hunters on Sunday morning at Waterville Park in Waterbury. Brass City scored 2 runs in the bottom of the second on an RBI triple by Drew Jones and a sac fly by Mike Padovani. In the bottom of the third, Steve Carosella (3-4) drove in two more runs giving the Brew a 4-1 lead. The Brew would plate one run in the bottom of the 6th on a bunt single that scored Paul Novakowski on an over throw and an RBI double by Eric Rovinetti. Eric Gormley went to 3-0 on the season going 7 strong innings striking out 7 while allowing 5 hits and 2 runs. Gary Novakowski picked up his 4th save of the season. Justin Campbell led the way for Burlington with 2 of their 5 hits, driving in the Hunters first run in the top of the 1st on an RBI double.
Wolcott Scrappers 5 Prospect Chargers 1
Justin Koutros pitched six solid innings for the Scrappers in a win over the Chargers at the BAW Complex. On offense, Erik Sehnal had a double, RBI and run scored while Ismael Bolorin added a double and run scored for Wolcott (4-3). Ryan Soucy (single), Jason Miller, Eric Soucy and Ryan Andrade also drove in a run for the Scrappers. Dave Antonucci took the loss for Prospect (1-7). Chris Valente had an RBI single for the Chargers.
Terryville Black Sox 10 Ansonia Valley Vikings 1
The Black Sox (4-2) sniped at the Vikings (2-6) throughout the game Sunday afternoon at the old Terryville High School. They began with a run in the first, two more in the fourth, one in the fifth, four in the sixth and a final pair in the eighth. Complete-game winner Dave Alarcon (9 innings, 7 strikeouts, 2 walks) held the Vikings down until the final inning when Ansonia put up a run. Joe Deming (2-for-3, double, 3 RBI); Andrew Tremle (2-for-4, double, 2 RBI); and Steve Tedd (3-for-3, double, RBI) did most of the Black Sox damage. Tedd, 43, and George Newsome, the only two fathers on the Black Sox, had their own Father’s Day Special in the sixth inning, scoring back-to-back runs.
Naugatuck Dogs 13 Lakeville Outlaws 0
Kenny Graveline, Jamie Kimberly, Brian Dowling, and Matt Zarnausky combined to pitch a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts. Naugy (7-1) was led by Trent Levi, who went 3-4 with a double and four RBI. George Harlamon added a two run triple and Shawn Miller-Jones contributed an RBI double.
