Wolcott Scrappers 2, Watertown Blaze 0: Omar Taveras continued his hot pitching for the Wolcott Scrappers in a 2-0 win over the league-leading Watertown Blaze Wednesday night at the BAW Complex. Playing as the road team in a makeup of a postponed Watertown home game from earlier in the season, Wolcott put together two runs in the top of the first. Adam LaCapra singled to lead off. Ryan Andrade followed with single and Gary Miller walked to load the bases. After a strikeout, Ryan Soucy reached on an error at second to drive in the first run. After another strikeout, Rob Silas walked to bring home another run.
Taveras did the rest, going the distance while giving up just four hits. He struck out five and walked none. Taveras improves to 5-1 on the season with an ERA under 1 for the year, manager Ryan Soucy said. Taveras also avenged the lone loss he had this season, which came against Watertown. Eddie Belval added a double for the Scrappers. Mike Mastrocola had two hits for the Blaze (16-3). Charlie Benson took the loss for Watertown
