Torrington Rebels 7, Thomaston Spoilers 3: This might have been the game that finally got the Torrington Rebels offense going. Pounding out 14 hits, the Rebels improved to 7-12 in Tri-State Baseball League action with a 7-3 victory over the Thomaston Spoilers at Fuessenich Park on Sunday evening. “It was the first game we broke out hitting,” said Rebels coach Curtis Anthony. Torrington spread their runs out throughout the contest, pushing a run across in the second inning, then two apiece in the third and fourth. Single runs were added in the seventh and eighth. Rebels starter Dan Livingston helped his cause by going 1-for-4 at the plate with a pair of RBI and run scored. On the mound he was solid, going the distance, striking out nine and scattering three runs. Also contributing to the offensive breakthrough was Tico Arcienega who was 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and a run scored. Jerry Colon also had a big night by finishing 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored. Joe Deming got the start for the Spoilers and pitched into the eighth inning. Thomaston is now 8-10.
Brass City Brew 4, Mazda Dodge Red Devils 1: The Brass City Brew squeaked out a win 4-1 against the Mazda Dodge Red Devils at Bucks Hill Park on Sunday. Steve Carosella drove in the first run of the game on a RBI double in the bottom of the third inning. The Red Devils would tie the game in the top of the fifth on a throwing error. The Brew would plate two in the bottom of the inning on a Justin McCulloch RBI double and a controversial run on a passed ball at the plate. Brass City tacked on one more run in the bottom of the sixth when Josh Coleman (3-for-3, 2 doubles) scored on a wild pitch. Marc DiDominzio pitched a complete game for Brass City, improving 4-0 on the season. Nick Urso went 3-for-3 and Pat O’Neal went 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Red Devils. Mazda Dodge falls to 5-13.

Wolcott Scrappers 4, Brass City Brew 3: The Scrappers scored three times in the third inning and held on to defeat the Brew. Gary Miller paced Wolcott by going 2-for-3, including a home run. Ishmail Bolorin chipped in by going 2-for-2 with an RBI, stolen base and run scored. That was enough for Zack Sehnal, who pitched a complete game six-hitter. The Brew were paced by Steve Carosella who had two hits and two runs scored. Eric Rovinetti and Mike Padovani each had a hit and RBI. Wolcott is now 11-8. Brass City falls to 12-6 after their second game of the day.
Tri-Town Trojans 12, Tribury Pavers 6: The Trojans jumped out quickly with 11 runs over the first four innings, including a big six-run third as they improved to 10-9 on the season. Leading Tri-Town’s 12-hit attack was Danny McCarty who went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI. Also, Jon Smart was 3-for-3 with three RBI. Also doubling for the Trojans was Kyle Osolin, Danny Spano, Jason McDonald and Joe Bunnell. Andy Dooley picked up the win for Tri-Town, pitching into the sixth inning. Jason Patrick closed things out by tossing the final three frames. Brian Cyr went the distance for Tribury. Tri-Town is now 10-9 and Tribury falls to 7-10.
Terryville Black Sox 8, Burlington Hunters 4: The Black Sox scored four times in the fourth inning and cruised from there to even their record at 9-9. Andrew Tremblay went 3-for-4 for Terryville while Mike Morrison finished 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI. Tyler Wenz earned the win, pitching six innings, and Billy Armstrong closed the game out. Burlington (8-11) was led by Justin Campbell who had two hits and two RBI.
Litchfield Cowboys 4, Winsted Whalers 1: At Community Field, the Cowboys got a strong outing from starter Chris Beach to defeat the Whalers. Leland McKenna entered in the seventh inning and closed out the game. McKenna also pitched in offensively with two hits. Ben Murphy went 2-for-2 with a walk and a double, while Drew Gauvain had a hit and two RBI. Winsted starter Dan Connelly pitched the first six innings and was relieved by Adam Piechowski in the seventh. Chance Rueger led the Whalers by going 2-for-3 with a walk.
Waterbury Wild 1, Naugatuck Dogs 0: Ken Kerski fired a one-hitter with 17 strikeouts as the Waterbury Wild score a run in the ninth to win the extra-inning game at Rotary Field in Naugatuck. Nick Boucher singled to lead off the ninth and moved to second on a wild pitch. One out later Fraz Kader singled to drive in the lone run of the game. Cody Kingsley added a pair of hits for the Wild. Devon Murphy had the lone hit for Naugatuck in the eighth inning. Lance Stevens went eight strong innings, giving up four hits while striking out seven. Waterbury moves to 8-11 and Naugatuck drops to 11-8.
Naugatuck Dogs 1, Thomaston Spoilers 0: Bobby Augelli hit a sacrifice fly to score George Harlamon with the only run as the Dogs blanked Thomaston to qualify for the Stan Musial State Tournament next week. Lance Stevens tossed a one-hitter and struck out eight while Harlamon added a hit for Naugatuck (11-8). Joe Deming had the hit for Thomaston.
Naugatuck Dogs 14, Tribury Pavers 11: Macky Cianciolo collected five hits and scored four runs as the Dogs snuck past Tribury in the completion of a suspended game. John Tenn doubled, had two singles and drove in four runs while Kyle Faucher added a two-run double and a single for Naugatuck (10-8). Jamie Kimberly belted a home run for Tribury (7-12).
Bethlehem Plowboys 11, Amenia Monarchs 10: The Plowboys survived a three-run top of the ninth to earn a hard-fought victory over the Monarchs. Amenia’s Matt Hosier cracked a three-run home in the final frame, but the comeback fell one run short. Hosier finished with two hits and four RBI. Matt Pomeisl added two hits and three runs scored for the Monarchs (11-9). The Plowboys (15-4) got big days at the plate from Dave Green who had four hits, and Jon Conlon who finished with three hits (2 doubles) and four RBI. Aaron Granahan and Eric O’Toole each doubled for Bethlehem.
Watertown Blaze 21, Prospect Hearts 5: The Blaze took control early, scoring seven runs in the first and five in the second to win going away. When the dust settled, Watertown had finished with 23 hits, including a monster 6-for-6 effort from Charlie Benson who also drove in six runs. Benson entered the contest just 1-for-7. Nick Russo added three hits and four RBI, while Jay Spear, Mike Mastrocola and Justin Froese each had a pair of hits. For Prospect, A.J. Kulak had a pair of doubles and three RBI. Spencer Griffin also had a solid day at the plate, as did Mike Valente who had two hits. Watertown is now 16-2 while Prospect is 2-18.
