Watertown Blaze 4, Winsted Whalers 1 (10 innings): Vic DeSimone’s bases-clearing double in the top of the 10th inning lifted Watertown past Winsted at Walker Field. Tyler King picked up the win in relief of Kyle Goldstein. The Blaze improve to 10-2 with the win. Watertown tied the game at 1 in the top of the sixth. Joel Castillo gave the Whalers (5-6) a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI double that scored Ricky Langer (2 hits). Donny Crossman took the loss for Winsted. Crossman also had a double.
Wolcott Scrappers 5, Terryville Black Sox 3 (9 innings): Ryan Soucy’s double broke a ninth-inning tie and helped lead Wolcott to a win over Terryville at the old Terryville High School. Both teams starting third baseman shined defensively in this one that also featured a very rare and entertaining infield pop-up (half-way between the pitching mound and home-plate) that was recorded in the book as 3-1-6-2-5 for an out. Gary Miller and Rob Silas each had RBI singles for the Scrappers (8-4). Adam LaCapra and Mike Perugini added doubles. Justin Koutros pitched two innings (3 strikeouts) in relief of Sal Messina (7 innings, 10 strikeouts) to pick up the win for Wolcott. Eric Baba had a single and run scored while Pat Norton doubled for the Black Sox (4-6). Kenny Martinik took the loss in relief of Tyler Wenz (7 innings, 8 strikeouts).
