Naugatuck 9 Tri-Town 7
The Dogs played small ball and took advantage of six Trojan errors in a victory at Community Field in Litchfield.
Mike Valenti came on in relief in the second inning for Naugatuck (5-4) and picked up the win. After giving up a bases loaded double, Valenti struck out eight consecutive batters, using a solid fastball and curveball. Valenti also brought home the go-ahead run in the sixth on a suicide squeeze with the bases loaded. Ryan Russell, George Harloman and Ryan Nelson each drove in two runs apiece for the Dogs. Naugatuck scored four runs in the fourth to erase a 4-0 deficit, then tallied five more in the sixth. Connor Murray took the loss for Tri-Town (6-4). Murray, Dan Valentine and Casey McDonald all had doubles for the Trojans. Tri-Town scored one run in the first, three in the second, and three in the seventh.
