Tribury 3, Torrington 1
Craig Prasauckas provided the offense and Don Maki pitched a 4-hitter as Tribury defeated Torrington 3-1 in Woodbury. Prasauckas (2-3, HR, SB) broke a scoreless tie with a towering two-run homer to left field that also scored Jordan Kershaw. Tribury (5-2) added a run in the bottom of the 6th to make it 3-0. Jamie Kimberly (2-3, 2B) singled and pinch runner Joe Melillo stole second. Eric Villanova followed with an RBI single to complete the Tribury scoring. Three runs would prove to be more than enough for Tribury’s 50+ year old ace Don Maki. In just his second appearance of the year, Mr. Maki didn’t allow a single runner past second base until the 7th inning when Matt Marola scored from second on a shutout-breaking Tom Spirito (2-3, double, single) 2-out single. Maki struck out the next batter, leaving runners stranded on first and second to end the game. Mr. Maki improved to 1-0 on the year, giving up 4 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 7 in a complete game performance. Brandon Cordani pitched very effectively for Torrington (4-6), going the distance while allowing 7 hits, 3 earned runs, and racking up 7 strikeouts.
