Bethlehem 8 Winsted 2
Tony Geraci’s three-run home-run put the game out of reach as Bethlehem toppled Winsted. The Plowboys started the scoring in the second inning when Geraci (2 runs scored) reached on an infield error, Jon Conlin (3-for-4, 3RBI, 2 runs scored) tagged a rocket to left for an RBI double. Eric O’Toole’s grounder to third got through as well, producing another run. Combined with the changeup, Winsted starter Donnie Crossman (7 innings, 6 earned runs, 9 hits, 8 strikeouts, 1 walk) knifed through the minumum number of batters in the next three innings while his offense caught up to Bethlehem. Crossman, who tore a muscle in his back this past winter still isn’t 100%, “But his ball still moves” stated Plowboy player/coach Jimmy Alberto. Jeoff Langill led off the Winsted third with a single, then got around on two walks and a ground-out by Justin Levetere. Dave Lumpkin reached on a pitch to the back, an error, a wild pitch and Langill groundout pushed Lumpkin across to tie the score at 2-2 versus Plowboy starter Rob Geraci (3.1 innings, 2 earned runs, 3 hits, 1 strikeout, 2 walks) before Sam Iverson (3.2 innings, 0 hits, 4 strikeouts, 0 walks) came on to shut the door for for the Plowboys. With two outs in the top of the sixth, Matt Parlato (2-for-4, 2 runs scored) singled to right, stole second and reached third on a bad throw. Conlin got him in easily with a single. Then Dave Greene doubled Conlin home for a 4-2 lead. Iverson and O’Toole led off the seventh with singles before Tony Geraci caught a change-up for a bomb that went way over Whaler left fielder T.J.Monka’s head for the three-run blast. The Plowboys final run came on a double from Parlato who scored on a Conlin hit. Ricky Langer doubled for the Whalers.
