Winsted 10, Terryville 6
The Whalers rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning Sunday and never looked back in their victory over Terryville. Dave Lumpkin paced the Whalers offense with a 3-for-3 day that included a double and two RBI. TJ Monka added a pair of hits for Winsted while Ricky Langer chipped in with a double. Dan Connelly fired a six-hitter, striking out seven, to improve to 1-1 for Winsted. Ken Martinik took the loss for Terryville. Eric Baba led the Black Sox with three hits and three RBI.
Litchfield 5, Thomaston 1
Carl Rivers (back from his honeymoon) went the distance to lead the Cowboys past the Spoilers. Dylan Stiles had a pair of hits to pace the Litchfield offense. Colin Pratt (RBI), Leland McKenna (RBI), and Chris Beach each doubled for the Cowboys. Joe Deming and Jacob Barbour had two hits, including a double each for the Spoilers while Timmy Hamel added a hit and a RBI. Deming started the game on the mound for Thomaston and took the loss. He was followed by Ramon Santiago in the sixth inning, Chris Giambroni in the eighth and Brandon Yancik in the ninth.
Brass City 8, Amenia 1
Eric Rovinetti drove in the game’s first run in the bottom of the first, Paul Novakowski followed with a two-run double that highlighted a four-run first inning. But Novakowski wasn’t done, adding a 3-run bases-clearing double in the fifth on his way to a six-RBI day. Steve Carosella and Mike Verroneau (double) helped the Brew by adding two hits apiece. Sean Keegan went 2-0 for Brass City by pitching five scoreless innings, giving up just one hit with four strikeouts. Gary Novakowski threw two scoreless innings retiring all six batters he faced. Amenia scored in the ninth when Adam Lyman doubled and scored on Steve Lyneham RBI single.
Tribury 11, Burlington 10
After falling behind 10-0 early on, Tribury scored 6 runs in the sixth inning and 5 runs with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth to defeat Burlington. Craig Prasauckus had a 3-run bases clearing double to tie the game at 10 and then scored the winning run on a single by Eric Villanova. Burlington suffered their first defeat of the season. Chris Doyle, Tribury’s fifth pitcher, earned the win to improve to 2-0. Burlington reliever Jay Pelletier took the loss. Andrew Jones led the Tribury offense with two hits, including a double, and three RBI. Andrew Conlan added two hits, scored twice and drove in a run. Burlington was led by Justin Campbell with two hits and Jay McIntyre with two hits including an RBI triple.
Bristol 5, Tri-Town 2
Bristol scored four runs in the second en route to the win over Tri-Town. The Greeners won their 5th straight game (against 1 loss). Geoff Pierce went 8 1/3 innings, allowing 8 hits and a pair of earned runs to get the win. Ryan Dudzinski recorded his first save of the season. After coming into a base-loaded one-out jam in the ninth inning, Dudzinski got his first batter to bounce back to the mound for a force at home and struck out the next batter to end the game. Dan Rosa had an RBI triple for Bristol while Ryan McDonnell contributed two hits and a stolen base. For the Trojans, Jason Patrick pitched seven innings of relief allowing only one earned run. Dan McCarty and Wayne Brewington each had multi-hit games.
Wolcott 7, Waterbury 6
Wolcott rallied with four runs in the seventh and one in the eighth after trailing 6-2. Rob Silas tied the game with a double in the seventh while Alex Narus won the game with a run scoring double in the eighth. Narus finished the day 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI for the game. Bill Finley paced Waterbury with two hits, including a double, and three RBI.
Torrington 12, Mazda Dodge 1
The Rebels scored early and often to cruise to the win over Mazda Dodge. Jerry Colon led the Rebels with three hits and two RBI. Jay Wetherall added a pair of hits while Matt Marola was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Torrington used five pitchers in the game while Mazda Dodge used four. Dan Livingston notched the win while Kelly Rusco took the loss.
Naugatuck 19, Farmingbury 7
The Dogs got their first win by outhitting the Longshots 18-7. Ryan Nelson went 2-for-3 with four RBI to pace the Dogs. Trent Levin added three hits and two RBI while Kevin Foucher had three hits and scored two runs. Lou Ritucci led Farmingbury with two hits and a run scored. Lance Stevens went six innings to notch the win for Naugatuck. Adam Roque took the loss.
