2007 Bethlehem Plowboys Reach Stan Musial Regionals
We played the Albany Athletics game 1, they were a decent state tourney team. We lost to them by 1 run. Game 2 we beat the Brooklyn Bonnies. Decent team. Game 3 we lost to the Long Island Storm. Very good team, what we expected at the regionals. Everyone in their lineup was a good hitter. Granted all of them played some pro ball. The committee treated us fine. Unfortunately, they didn’t reserve enough rooms at the Sheraton. We had to find our own hotel. Hotels weren’t cheap at $139 a night. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Stoneybrook. Very good hotel. Their was no time between games on day 1, we played right away. At night we played cards and visited local bars in Port Jefferson. All the fields we played on were field turf (baseball heaven). The had sliding pits at each base. If any other teams go over to Long Island in the future, I highly recommend taking the ferry from Bridgeport. This year’s World Series was in Texas. It was mentioned at the regional meeting, that who ever made it to Texas it would cost roughly $25,000 to fly round trip alone. Just some food for thought, pretty expensive.
