Bethlehem Has Something to Bragg About
Darrin Bragg played for the Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, and New York Yankees during his 11 year major league career and once hit a home run off Randy Johnson at Yankee Stadium and was the starting left fielder for the Seattle Mariners in 1996 playing left field on a daily basis next to future hall-of-famer Ken Griffey Jr. before being traded to the Boston Red Sox for pitcher Jamie Moyer. He was the batting champion of the ACC during his junior year in college for Georgia Tech. Bragg, Rico Brogna, Mark Ericson (Watertown catcher drafted by Twins), and Tri-State League Commisioner Ed Gadomski played Legion ball together for Oakville Legion during the 1984 and 1985 seasons. In 2006, he joined the Bethlehem Plowboys and hit a walk-off home run to propel Bethlehem to a 6-5 playoff victory over Winsted during the Tri-State league playoffs. Bragg has accepted a position as batting instructor for the Cincinnati Reds Double-A affiliate for the 2007 season.
