Lonnie Brooks Remembered
Lonnie C. Brooks unexpectedly passed away at the tender age of 34 on Monday October 17th, 2005. Lonnie graduated from Bristol Central High School in 1990 and was well-known for his athletic abilities, especially as a basketball player during that time period. He also attended Western CT state University and later worked for Yarde Metals in Southington as a QC representative. In baseball – Lonnie was a tall, hard-throwing right hander who played for the Terryville Titans and was the winning pitcher in the ‘clinching’ championship game in 1996 handing Terryville its first ever league title. “The thing that I remember about Lonnie was that he was full of life and could get along with anyone,” said Terryville player/coach Gary Swierczynski. “He was an all around great athlete. He never really totally focused on baseball (mostly basketball), but his fastball had some incredible pop to it.” Lonnie Brooks will certainly be remembered.
