The Thomaston Spoilers rode the iron man effort of pitcher Ed Gadomski to a double-header sweep over Brass City 7-4 and 14-7 on Sunday in Tri-State League baseball action at Black Rock Field. Gadomski pitched 11 1/3 innings of relief in the double-header sweep. In game 1: Gadomski (relieving in the first inning) pitched 9 1/3 innings of scoreless ball after Brass City put four runs on the board. Joe Deming’s RBI single in the 10th proved to be the difference while Gadomski added a two-run double for insurance. On the hill, he struck out nine without a walk. In game 2: Gadomski pitched the final two innings to complete the double-header sweep in a game that featured the Spoilers banging out 15 hits. Gadomski continued his torrid start for the Thomaston Spoilers and was named the "Athlete of the Week" on June 19th after hitting a pair of home runs, double, single, 5 RBI and scored three times to lead Thomaston to a 13-5 win over Waterbury. Earlier in the week, Gadomski "had his brother’s back" with a home run, double, (intentional walk), scored two runs and knocked in 2 runs in a 5-3 win over the Torrington Rebels. Joe Deming drove in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth, scoring Gadomski for a 4-3 advantage. It was a Gadomski day all the way around as Rob Gadomski (8 innings, 3 runs, 6 strikeouts, 3 walks) picked up the win while Ed, filling in at shortstop for starter Timmy Hamel (baby christening), pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save.
